Drew McGukin tackles the interior design world with a unique level of energy, great pace and integrity. He is known for a touch of the ‘unexpected,’ combined with beautiful textures and bold patterns that vibrate with the perfect amount of sophistication, warmth, innovation, style and approachability.

Drew graduated from The New York School of Interior Design in May 2010, and kicked off as lead designer in his own New York-based firm after a year-long stintwith Matthew Yee Interiors. He served on the Board of Directors for ASID NYMetro from 2009-2011, while simultaneously sitting on the 2011 Student Advisory Council for ASID National.

Soon after graduation, Drew was selected by The New York Design Center as one of 30 founding designers set to launch Access to Design™—a concierge service providing accessibility for consumers to the industry’s top design talents and product offerings through NYDC. The New York Chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Association [IFDA] recently named Drew a ‘Rising Star’ in 2012. Houzz.com, the leading online platform for home remodeling and design, continues to honor Drew with its “Best of Houzz” distinction in design for driving extraordinary online traffic through his online portfolio. Drew McGukin Interiors generously participates in community outreach like the “Project Design” collaboration with Kravet Inc. and The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island for a two-phase renovation of the facility from the Spring 2013 to Fall 2014.

Drew McGukin Interiors is established as a professional firm delivering a level of expertise that is not only innovative, but also classically trained. His offices are located in Chelsea and the team is currently working on projects in and around Manhattan, the Hamptons, North Carolina and the west coast.

Born and raised in Manhattan, Lauren Behfarin picked up where she left off in her New York City life after graduating in Communications from Boston University in 2007. Lauren’s love of fashion quickly landed her a position in visual merchandising for Michael Kors, refining her sharp and forecasting eye by creating elegant in-store displays in MK stores across the US. An uptown girl with downtown energy, Lauren calls the Upper East Side home and spends her free time focused on building her successful fashion lifestyles blog – Born and Bread (www.bornandbread.blogspot.com).

She is currently a student at the New York School of Interior Design while also contributing to the team at Drew McGukin Interiors.

Erin Bixler honed her eye for color, texture and balance in the worlds of fashion and film, and began to pursue her curiosity in Interior Design after more than three years in Public Relations and Marketing for J.Crew. Erin graduated from the New York School of Interior Design in January 2010, and holds a BA in film from the University of Michigan. As a design student, Erin apprenticed at MAC II in NYC, followed by a position as project manager for Solis Betancourt in Washington D.C. Joining Drew McGukin in Sept 2011, Erin brings with her experience at two AD100 design firms and an architectural approach to designing a room. She most enjoys creating comfortable and elegant spaces where her clients love to be home.

With more than 35 years of design experience, Melinda Bickers – NCIDQ and New York State certified – has a keen understanding for the smallest detail involved in residential to large-scale commercial projects. After many years as principal in her own firm – both in Cleveland and New York – she has focused her work since 1995 as a faculty member at the New York School of Interior Design where she teaches studio classes on color theory, residential space planning, and kitchen and bath design, in the college’s undergraduate and graduate programs. Melinda has an MFA in the History of Decorative Arts from Parsons/Cooper Hewitt along with a BS from Northwestern University and a BFA from NYSID. Her passion for the profession – as both a practitioner and educator – drives her constant search to understand and incorporate the impact of the digital revolution, the green movement, and accessibility into interior space planning. Melinda acts as a senior consulting designer for Drew McGukin Interiors.
